How to win in Wildgate π
Wildgate is a cooperative game. Hence, coordination is important and compared to coordinated teams an uncoordinated team is at a big disadvantage.
Therefore, Solo-Q in general is at a disadvantage.
However, piloting yields the most success, since any good strategy in this game usually starts with the ship being positioned correctly.
Ships have strengths. Playing to your ships strengths and to opponents weaknesses will give you the biggest universal advantage you can get from your own actions.
Ships and their Strengths β¨ / Weaknesses β‘
Every ship has their own strengths and weaknesses. Playing and piloting to use your own ships strengths and abuse the enemy ships weaknesses is often the deciding factor to winning the game.
Privateer

The Privateer is βthe gun shipβ, featuring a gun deck with a total of 6 guns, where as at anytime at least 3 guns can directly shoot at an enemy ship.
Strengths β¨
- strong at long (400 - 600m) range
- highest DPS with minimal amount of people
- cannot be outrun due to long range projectiles and consistent damage even on long range
- scales hard with loot
- usually mediocre guns are very strong
- Macro Cannon is usually underwhelming due to being able to be shot down, with Privateer however, it gets even more range and is hard to shoot down
- Bomb Cannon suffers similar downsides to Macro Cannon, which are negated by the increased projectile speed
- 4 Quad Cannons on Privateer are enough to seriously wreck your enemies
Weaknesses β‘
- super vulnerable to boarding
- overloading the reactor (while not particularly strong) requires a team member on the gundeck to travel the whole distance through the ship and back, leading to a huge dip in DPS
- pilot is on his own, since even if they alert their crew, they have a long way to walk from the gundeck
